Advanced Leadership

The Honors Advanced Leadership class, also known as Early Bird, is an additional JROTC class that starts an hour before school, hence the name Early Bird. In Early Bird, cadets are able to participate in activities that aren't offered to regular JROTC classes. These activities include: rope bridge, shooting pellet rifles, and planning the battalion's events. Additionally, cadets receive the ACU (Army Combat Uniform) and participate in extracurricular teams, such as Raiders and Color Guard.
Since this extra class is extremely beneficial to cadets, their participation is required. Cadets are expected to put in the time and effort as well as set the example. Unlike regular JROTC classes, the Early Bird class is considered an honors class. However, this course is year long. Honors Advanced Leadership allows students to simultaneously remain in JROTC and take other classes during the day. This gives many students leeway in their schedule
So if you'd like to go above and beyond, be involved in more fun activities or just love hanging around the First Sergeant, then Early Bird is right for you. Please see the Senior Army Instructor, Major Timothy Davis, or the Army Instructor, First Sergeant Robert Overby, for more details about joining.
