"To motivate young people to be better citizens."

-- JROTC Mission Statement
In JROTC, we hope to encourage and good citizenship within our cadets, and that is why we strive to teach cadets leadership principles that will aid them throughout life. Loyalty, duty, and honor are many of the values cadets learn and implement. Many people believe the misconception that JROTC cadets are required to join the military post graduation, but JROTC is not a means of recruiting for the armed forces. However, understanding the components of the military is a part of our curriculum, and we will introduce many career options in the military. JROTC emphasizes the many opportunities through enlisting and commissioning, but we do not pressure cadets to enlist.

JROTC follows the military's rank structure to teach valuable principles and test leadership capabilities. However, these skills and traits taught go beyond military use and can be applied to real world scenarios. JROTC prepares students for leadership roles, such as being a camp counselor or managing a business. If a cadet decides to join the military, he or she can enlist as an E-2 after completing four JROTC classes.

JROTC is an extremely valuable class, and we encourage students to take it even if they don't plan on joining the military.
